Lush Hearts Vegans

Hey do you know about Lush? They make cosmetics (bathbombs, soaps, shower stuff, massage bars etc) that aren’t only handmade with fresh ingredients but are now even more vegan friendly.

Back in the day I had to order soaps and bath bombs and all that from Lush online but a few years ago they started opening storefronts in Chicago. The problem was while they denoted the vegan items on their online store and in their catalogs with little green Vs the retail shop had no Vs anywhere. So to find something vegan you would have to walk around with a catalog in your face hunting down the vegan items. Everytime I shopped there i would make a point of asking about vegan labeling. Then the other day i walked into Lush and noticed they finally had little green Vs everywhere. Hooray! Now it’s real easy to walk around and fill up my basket with Lush goodies without having a clerk holding my hand and referencing the catalog. Just look for anything with a green V on it.

Oh and Lush also has a policy against animal testing. How about that?! Lush products also use minimal packaging. Most of the solid stuff is just in a pile waiting for you to drop in a little plastic baggie or wrap in paper. So they’re pretty cool all around. I encourage you to go on in and try some of their great vegan products. Thank them for making the ethical choice for making and supporting vegan products and taking a stand against cruelty in animal testing. After you try them out please drop a review on Yelp.

(Here’s what the vegan logo looks like btw:)

Veggie Bite Comes North

vblogo.gif

The vegan fast food restaurant we all know and love is opening up a new location in Wicker Park at 1300 N. Milwaukee. Sylvia Watycha and Moshe Shalom are two righteous vegans who have filled an obvious gap in vegan cuisine and that’s vegan fast food! Be it burgers, hot dogs, chili cheese fries, BBQ bits,or shakes just to name a few, they got it covered. Sylvia and Moshe wear their ethics on their sleeves but try to make inroads with their unassuming fare and decor. It aint no hippie joint and you wont see lentils on the menu.

This new location was a year in the making and we’re glad to finally see an actual location being fleshed out of the corner of Milwaukee and Paulina. Sylvia wouldn’t give us an exact date and we can’t blame her but she hopes it will coincide with the anniversary of their first location which is March 10th.

When we’re on the southside we make sure to load up sacks of hedonistic vegan food to vice out on. Now that they’re north this is going to get very dangerous.
