Well, we're not quite ready for an outdoor beer garden party, but I just looked at the forecast for the 18th and they're calling for a high of 62!! We're so close!
Anyway, this month we're going back to our historical Chicago drinking roots and visiting a pub that was established back in 1933 (for you history buffs, that's the year prohibition was repealed - lucky for you). This from Jake's web site, "Jake’s has remained in the same location, under the same name, through 70 years and four generations of owners. Such is the life of planets and stars compared to the longevity of the city’s bars."
This bar has a fine selection of beer, imports and domestics, on draft and in bottles. They also have all the requisite booze to mix it up.
It's not a huge place, so if you're looking to sit, I'd recommend getting there early.
Jake's is located in the southern edge of the Lakeview Neighborhood -- on Clark St., near Oakdale.
If you're taking the L, you can take the Red Line and get off at Belmont, or you can take the Brown Line and get off at either Diversey or Wellington.
If you're taking the bus...
* Clark bus (#22) to Oakdale.
* Halsted (#8) to Oakdale.
* Broadway (#36) to Oakdale
* Belmont (#77) to Halsted
* Diversey (#76) to Halsted
