Vegan Chicago Meetup at La Fontanella

La Fontanella (map)

Selected By: Debra

Greetings, everyone!

For the month of August, we’re gonna bring it inside and visit a small gem nestled in the heart of one of Chicago’s Italian neighborhoods… La Fontanella… known for its traditional Italian cuisine.

The owner of La Fontanella recently agreed to create permanent vegan menu options (they’ll be posted to the website soon) and promote animal rights via displays of AR-related literature at the restaurant (Thank you, Maria… you rock!).

Within La Fontanella’s intimate space, we’ll dine on a bruscetta appetizer, followed by a dark green, leafy salad with olives and other goodies, Pasta Primavera with eggplant, zucchini, broccoli, onions, garlic, peas, and mushrooms, and bread with olive oil for dipping. All this for $21.00, which includes tax, tip, and Amazon fee!

A cash bar will be available for those interested.

And that’s not all!

After the meal, we’ll be treated to a chocolate tasting by Chocolate Inspirations, Inc., a local, family-owned chocolatier that offers a vegan line, Vegan Inspirations http://www.chocolatei.... Several products from the series will be present for sampling, as well as for purchase.

Chocolate Inspirations gives back to the community via Chocolate for Charity by featuring a different animal shelter every two months. A portion of the proceeds from selected products are donated to the shelters to assist in caring for the animals-in-residence http://www.chocolatei....

Please consider joining us to share a delicious Italian meal with fellow vegans, support a restaurant that has opened its mind and heart to the vegan community, and sample delectable vegan confections.

Hope to see you there!

I really thought the noodles were too plentiful and the veggies too sparse; but the vegan chocolates for dessert were awsome!

Acceptable location and atmosphere, but way, way too much pasta with no vegan sauces (not even tomato) and less than 1/4 cup of cooked vegetables per plate of food. Fruit would have been nice, was not there. This was not Mediterrainean and not at all worth the price. Maybe they are not really Italian?
