A new all-vegan restaurant is opening in Logan Square. It's called Life On Mars and located at 2910 W. Armitage. They'll offer soy dairy shakes, smoothies, tea as well as made-to-order sandwiches and varied bakery items. They expect to open around early February.

Thanks for the info, Dave! As per my OCD tendencies, Life on Mars has been added to VegGuide.org, with a "courtesy of Dave Dandelion" tag.

This place is a short bike ride from my house. SO GOOD!
Unfortunately, it's take-out only, but you can go there in the summer & just eat outside! |

I just ate there last night, and I give it two enthusiastic thumbs up. It is a drag that it's only take out, but they did have a bench in the front window if you were really desperate to eat there I suppose. Compared to what I would consider their main competition in the vegan quick food market, Veggie Bite, it was less tradition fast-food, burgers-and-fries sorts of stuff. Prices were about what you would expect. Not quite McDonald's cheap yet, but reasonable given the high quality of the food. The soy shake was fantastic. They have a minty "shamrock shake" sort of thing for the holiday that was delicious (although I spilled it less than a quarter way through - I'm still lamenting that). You can apparently also get the shakes made with rice milk and/or rice ice cream (not sure which) too if you're not into soy. I'm probably just repeating a bunch of stuff you could have read on their website or yelp, but I really needed to share that with someone. Haha, thanks for listening VC

Oh man thanks for reminding me. I finally got out there and picked up like one of EVERYTHING for dinner.
Everything was good. Mac & Cheese actually had some flavor unlike most places that serve vegan mac & cheese. Not a big fan of the sandwiches but the takeout stuff hit the spot! I didn't know about the shakes. I ran in and out so fast i hardly glanced at the menu. Go Yelp that shit, I gotta do the same. ![]() |

My wife and I went there a few weeks back and had the seitan broccoli "beef", a delicious spicy asian cole slaw, and some cookies. Everything was great. Great option for take-out, we ended up going and eating in Holstein Park which isn't too far away.
In fact, I need to get back over there now. Mmm. |
