I think about random vegan questions all day long and thought id write out some of them...They may sound a bit silly but oh well :)

1. Do you think a person that fishes and eats it is any more wrong than someone that buys beef at a grocery store? I cringe a bit more when I hear about someone fishing but not so much when I see someone eat beef, maybe this is considered some form of ethical conditioning.

2. In an ideal world, what should happen to all the existing farm animals? Did they all once live in the wild or are the kinds of farm animals we see some breeded types?

3. What are your thoughts on beeswax?

4. What do you guys do when you see bugs in your house? Mosquitos? Bees? Flies?

5. Back to our ideal world...should any form of eating animals be outlawed? animal experimentation? if a child kills a dog, what should the punishment be? should it be the same punishment as if the child killed another human?

6. Thoughts on dating vegetarians if youre vegan? or dating a carnivore?

thanks for reading my silly questions!

PS Please let me know if you recommend any books on the philosophy/politics behind veganism/speciesism. I've found plenty that deals with the details of the mistreatment of animals and not to belittle that at all but I'd like to learn the thoughts behind all that.

1. This may be hyperbolic, but let me pose this question: Is it better to kill a person yourself or to hire someone else to do it?

2. I would love to have the problem where all people gave up meat at once and we had all these animals just hanging out. If that happened, I could imagine a number of Farm Sanctuary-type 'retirement homes' would spring up. Domesticated animals are not natural: They have been bred for thousnads of years to be different from their wild ancestors. Swine can go feral quite easily, and survive in the wild easily on their own. I imagine many other types could survive in the wild as well, as long as they weren't too abused and malformed from confinement. However, no domesticated animals would fit in ecologically anywhere without displacing a native species: They are invasive species with no home in the wild anywhere.

3. Bees have enough trouble with colony collapse disorder for me want to harm them any more. Plus it's so easy to avoid. I am never thinking that the other waxes just don't quite live up to the amazing properties beeswax.

4. I let spiders be to eat whatever they want. Bees, wasps, ants, and flies I let outside. Fleas and mosquitos fall into the category of self-defense for me: I try to ward them off as much as I can, but if they attack me I don't feel too bad putting them down.

5. Eating animals is illegal in some places, like Pushkar, India. I won't force anyone to think a certain way. I don't think animal experimentation should be legal. I think animal cruelty laws should be strengthened, but they should equal laws concerning human victims.

6. First, noone is a carnivore. My spouse was an omnivore when we started going out but now is vegan. Guess I am a good cook!

As for books, I reccommend "Mad Cowboy" by Howard Lyman.
