We've got a Vita-Mix which we got in 1987 (yes, 23 yrs ago). We've used it off and on over the years (especially for making bread, and soups) and nowadays are using it daily for green smoothies.

You're going to hear a lot from each side in the war between Vita-Mix and Blendtec, especially since there are financial incentives to many of the people promoting either brand (i.e., they get an affiliate commission from the company).

But definitely (assuming you can afford one) get one of these powerful devices, as opposed to a regular juicer, as it's much better to eat/drink all of the fiber!

Good luck,
Mark

I've had a KitchenAid blender that's done me well for the past 10 years. My point is: no fancy tools needed. Like Mark brought up, beware of those who have something to sell. The only thing I wanna sell is easy veganism. biggrin

Google the Vita Prep by Vitamix, it is there commercial version of the Vitamix. Heavy duty with an adjustable knob that is really important, imo

I have a blendtec total blender and I love it. I use it for making smoothies, nutbutters, nut, oat, flax milks, and whole grain flours.

I love making bread and the blender makes wonderful bread flour from whole oats, flax, quinoa, buckwheat, rice, lentils, whatever you want.

I bought the larger 5 sided 96oz jar and it's really awesome for making whole vegetables soups.

The 640z just is shaped just right that one of those reusable cone coffee filters will fit inside without falling and by setting it on "4" the blade will vortex the water enough for it to flow into the filter. I make fresh ginger root tea, coffee from whole beans and other types of hot liquid extracts.

The warranty is for 20,000 cycles rather than years. I use it everyday and I'm on 1400 after a year. You can cheat by using the pulse button which doesn't increase the counter.

I think whichever one you buy you will be extremely happy with it.
