Please see the event descriptions below for guidelines about the type of events Vegan Chicago offers:

DINEOUTS
Dineouts happen monthly and we pick restaurants that are vegan or are particularly vegan friendly. We setup a special menu or buffet for this event. Tax, tip, and Meetup fees are rolled into the cost of the event so that it is a one-time fee charged when the RSVP is made. These events get quite large so it'll will be hard to miss us when you arrive. Please look for the organizer who will be checking everybody in upon arrival.
  • To attend a member must RSVP "Yes" on the event page.
  • Prepayment through Amazon.com is a requirement for a "Yes" RSVP and the payment process will begin once a "Yes" RSVP is initiated.
  • Refunds are not given so if you change your mind or don't come you forfeit your payment.
  • Calling the venue owner or showing up without a reservation the day of will not get you in. We have a list and abide strictly by it for the fairnes of all.

VEGAN ON TAP
Vegan On Tap is an event where we simply meet at a bar and have drinks. It allows for better social mingling and is more of a casual type of event. We hope that new and experienced vegan people will come out and share friendly conversation. Come and ask those questions you're otherwise embarrassed to ask or feel free to vent/cry on a shoulder! The vegan here flows on tap so come and get a share!

A RSVP is not required but is still recommended so we can keep an eye out for you and secure the appropriate seating arrangements. Everybody is responsible for their own drinks and generally food is not a part of this type of event unless stated otherwise.

INFORMATIONAL
This is a new type of event we are currently ramping up to add to the calendar. These types of event may include:
  • Speaking engagements/panels with reputable authorities.
  • Book clubs.
  • Cooking demos or community spotlights.
Please stayed tuned for more information on these.

POTLUCK
A potluck is a party where everybody brings a dish of food and shares it with the rest of the people at the party. To ensure everybody has a good time we will outline basic guidelines we expect everybody to follow if they wish to participate. Nothing hard or scary just mostly common sense stuff and tips for people new to potluck.

Please adhere to the following:
  • All food must be vegan which is defined as not containing any animal products. By this we mean no: meat, milk, cheese, eggs, honey, yogurt, butter, whey, lard, casein, gelatin, fish, animal broth etc. For a more comprehensive list check out this page.
  • You must bring food to eat food.
  • Dishes should serve at least 6 portions.
  • A list of ingredients or the recipe must be written down to be displayed near your dish with your name.
  • If needed please provide a utensil to enable people to serve themselves a portion of the dish you brought.
  • Bring your own plate, utensils and napkin. Tupperware or other such container makes for a convenient way to partake and then store for easy cleanup later at home.
  • Store/restaurant bought food is allowed as long as the ingredients are readily available. This makes it easy for people who don't cook or whatever to participate.
  • Couples/families bringing one dish should adjust the portion size of their dish accordingly.
  • Please post what dish you plan to bring in your RSVP comment when you sign up for an event.
  • While we will do our best to ensure all food is vegan (or yummy wink ) we cannot guarantee it. Eat at your own risk.
